Beginner Tumble

Tumble Basics

Youth: 6-9 years | Teen: 10-18 years

Tumble Basics is Empire’s beginning tumbling class for your growing athlete. Athletes will be introduced to the world of tumbling, while preparing their bodies for overall athletic development.
 

Athletes will learn introductory tumbling skills, levers, lunges, cartwheels & round­-offs, handstands, bridges & back­bends, kick­overs, limbers, and walk­overs, along with basic motion, jump, and stunt technique. The concepts taught in this class are the building blocks as they progress to more advanced tumbling classes.

 

Experience level: No experience required.

Advanced Basics

Youth: 6-9 years | Teen: 10-18 years

Advanced Basics Youth is the next step in your athletes journey past Tumble Basics. Athletes in this class have mastered earlier progressions and are perfecting their kickovers and walkovers in preparation for Back Handspring class.

 

Experience level: Instructor recommendation or new student evaluation required.

Intermediate Tumble

Starburst

Age: 4-6 years

Starburst is a 60­ minute weekly tumbling class, offering a more advanced approach to learning for young athletes who have demonstrated progression past Tumble Cubbiez and/or Cheer Basics.

Experience level: Instructor recommendation or new student evaluation required.

Back Handspring 101

Tiny: 4-6 years | Youth: 6-9 years | Teen: 10-18 years

Back Handspring (BHS) 101 is Empire’s intermediate tumbling class where athletes will work to achieve both standing and running round-­off back ­handspring while learning proper form and building necessary strength and muscle tone to progress to more elite skills.

 

Skill Pre-requisites: Cartwheel, Round­off, Back­bend+Kick­over - OR Back Walk­over, and Handstand Hold.

 

Acro Tumbling for Dancers

Age: 6-18 years

Acro & Aerial Tumbling focuses on Advanced Tumbling skills specific to dancers and other trick tumblers wanting to progress their Specialty Tumbling Skills.

 

Experience level: Basic Tumbling experience is recommended.

 

Advanced Tumble

Advanced Back Handspring

Youth: 6-9 years | Teen: 10-18 years

Advanced BHS is designed for athletes to connect a series of both standing and round­off back handsprings while learning proper form and building the necessary strength and muscle tone to progress to more elite skills.

Experience level: Standing Back Handspring and Round­-off + Back Handspring in proper form.

Tuck

Youth: 6-9 years | Teen: 10-18 years

Tuck is designed for athletes to learn basic form for performing advanced tumbling skills while achieving & perfecting running and standing tuck skills. Special emphasis will be placed on core, hip flexor, and low back strengthening and development.

Experience level: Standing & Running three Back­ Handspring series in proper form.

Layout & Twist

Layout and Twist is currently Empire’s most elite tumbling class. Athletes will first focus on perfecting body form and height of the layout.

Once the layout is achieved with correct form and height, athletes will be taught the proper form and technique of full twisting skills and beyond.

Experience level: Running Tuck and Standing skills into a Tuck.
